Luke 5:10 (NIV)
Don't be afraid, from now on you will catch men.
The sole purpose of a Christian's existence is to lead others to Christ. This was one of the reasons why the Holy Spirit had to break up the first church in Jerusalem as the disciples had gotten too comfortable and forgot the great commission. May we never fall into that trap of complacency and be busy about our Master's work. Amen.
Amen. That's what I meant, evangelism that includes discipleship training. Thank you Peter.
I think we have a two-fold responsibility, which is to preach the Kingdom of God and make disciples. Obviously we can only make disciples of those who have come to Christ. If we neglect discipleship, we end up with weak Christians who are unable to lead others to Christ. The church in the West has fallen into this trap. When an assembly is more interested in numbers than in discipling who they have already, it is a recipe for trouble. Oh, and a disciple is not some kind of mindless drone to be manipulated and controlled. A disciple is a precious child of God who is to be taught, encouraged, and exhorted. And sometimes corrected.
