Acts 13:34 (NASB 1995)
I will give you the holy and sure blessings of David.
These words of assurance spoken to the Lord Jesus Christ regarding establishing a kingdom for King David and the surety of God's blessings also apply to all believers. God's promises are fulfilled not because of man's desire or cooperation but because of God's will and intent. God's word does not proceed forth from His word without being fulfilled (Isaiah 55:11). God does not need favorable circumstances or obedient hearts for His promises or will to come to pass. God's will happens simply because He said so. It is blasphemous to think that God is somehow short-changed or delayed in accomplishing His will as if He is constrained by external circumstances like we mortals are. Our God can raise an entire army from dead men's bones (Ezekiel 37:1-14). God's sure and holy blessings to us believers in Christ are guaranteed to happen not because of our cooperation or faith but because of God's omnipotent power and His sovereign will.
